Group E whipping boys Pandurii Targu Jiu and Pacos Ferreira brought their dismal Europa League campaigns to a close with a goalless draw.
The pair completed their respective campaigns with just five points between them and having long since lost all hope of qualifying for the last 32.
Currently rock-bottom of the Portuguese Liga after suffering back-to-back defeats, Pacos at least avoided a similar fate in Europe with the draw enough to keep them one point clear of their rivals.
But their night still ended on a low note when Andre Leao was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 89th minute.
Paolo Hurtado and Jean Michael Seri both had early chances as the visitors started well, while Pandurii had to wait until the 16th minute for their first real chance when Erico brought a save out of Matias Degra.
His opposite number Razvan Stanca had to be alert to save from Carlao but it was the hosts who were pressing, Viorel Nicoara missing the target for the home side just before the half-hour and Nicandro Breeveld missing an even better chance moments later.
Alex Dos Santos and Nicoara both had chances towards the end of the half as the home side finished well on top.
A slower second half almost saw the visitors take the lead in the 62nd minute when Carlao drew a fine save from Stanca, then both Sergio Oliveira and Hurtado missed good chances.
Tiago Valente brought another save out of Stanca in the 82nd minute and Bebe also came close before the visitors' night was soured by Leao's dismissal.

                      Viola held in Pacos stalemate

#INSERT type:image caption:Fiorentina's Marko Bakic takes on Ruben Ribeiro. END# Fiorentina were held to a 0-0 draw at Pacos Ferreira in a low-key Europa League Group E match.
The Viola, having already assured themselves a place in the last 32 of the competition after four wins from four group games, left out their top stars for the encounter in Portugal.
The closest either side came to scoring was in the 86th minute, when Fiorentina goalkeeper Gustavo Munua was forced to stretch to clear Manuel Vieira's stinging drive from 30 yards.
The outcome leaves Fiorentina leading the pool with 13 points, one clear of FC Dnipro, who have secured second place and qualified for the next round.
The Italians go into their final match against Dnipro on Dec. 12 with top spot on the line.
Winless Pacos, meanwhile, at the foot of the standings, will be looking to end the competition with victory at Pandurii.
The hosts enjoyed a strong start and threatened in the 12th minute when Ruben Ribeiro surged into the area and fired a right-footed shot that went just wide of the far post.
Bebe wasted a good chance to put Pacos ahead in the 20th minute when he hit the ball straight at Fiorentina goalkeeper Gustavo Munua from a good position.
Before half-time, Nenad Tomovic blocked Tony's goalbound attempt from outside the area as the hosts looked more dangerous.
The visitors showed more determination after the restart and had their best chance in the 76th minute, when Alberto Aquilani's powerful header from Matias Fernadez's cross was kept out by Pacos goalkeeper Antonio Filippe.
At the other end, Munua was called into action to clear Vieira's attempt from outside the area.
With four minutes remaining, Fiorentina's Marcos Alonso fired a shot just over the bar in what was the last chance of the game.

                        Dnipro make knockout stage

Dnipro booked their place in the knockout stage of the Europa League with a routine 2-0 win at home to Pacos Ferreira.
Goals from Matheus and Yevhen Konoplyanka in either half were enough to secure a win which leaves the Ukraininan side three points behind Group E leaders Fiorentina, who struck twice late to beat Pandurii Targu-Jiu.
Dnipro dominated the opening half although they had to wait to make their breakthrough as Antonio Felipe was busied in the away goal.
Felipe was comfortable enough when he held Nikola Kalinic's 18-yard drive but he needed to be at full alert to tip a Bruno Gama effort from the middle of the penalty area past his post.
Kalinic thrashed another effort just off target before Matheus broke through on 44 minutes.
Artem Fedetskiy supplied the cross from the right for the Brazilan striker to get his head on to from six yards.
The Ukrainians therefore had the comfort of a half-time lead and took 20 minutes of the second period to further strengthen their position.
Matheus and Konoplyanka had both tested Felipe before the latter added his name to the scoresheet on 66 minutes.
Kalinic headed the ball down for Konoplyanka who beat Felipe from 20 yards.
Sergiy Politylo went close to making it 3-0 only for his shot to be tipped wide.
At the other end Denys Boyko was forced into rare action to keep out Jean Seri's tight-angled effort.
Jaba Kankava fired wide from the edge of the area in the closing stages but the damage had already been done.

                          Dnipro snatch points late on

Dnipro waited until Pacos Ferreira were tired of trying before scoring twice at the death to snatch a 2-0 Europa League win at the Estadio Capital do Movel.
The Portuguese club were searching for their first win in Group E but found visiting goalkeeper Denys Boyko an immovable object for most of the frustrating encounter.
Dnipro kept energy in reserve and late smash-and-grab goals from Ruslan Rotan and Yevhen Konoplyanka booked them the second group victory they needed to stay in touch with Fiorentina.
Antonio Filipe was the first goalkeeper to get a feel of the ball. He caught Rotan's sighter before repelling Konoplyanka's snapshot from 12 yards.
Bebe came close to opening the scoring at the other end in the 16th minute but his shot from Jean Seri's free-kick brought a solid parry from Boyko.
Nikola Kalinic emerged as Dnipro's biggest threat before the break and, after his weak shot sailed over the bar, he sent Filipe sprawling with a close-range effort in the 34th minute.
Sergio Oliveira checked Boyko was still paying attention after half-time with a drilled effort that the Dnipro keeper had to punch away.
He would not get close to Rui Miguel, however, as the attacking midfielder headed Manuel Jose's free-kick over the bar.
Boyko was given another wake-up call when Ruben Ribeiro stung his palms with a rasping drive in the 74th minute.
Nine minutes later, Dnipro took the lead against the run of play.
Rotan was the beneficiary as Konoplyanka pulled the ball back from a short-corner routine to leave Filipe rooted to the spot.
He would not move far in the 86th minute either as the Ukrainians plundered a quickfire second before their hosts could reorganise.
Provider turned goalscorer as Konoplyanka caught the Portuguese defence cold at the end of a swift counter-attack.
He burst past two men on the left wing before cutting inside and poking the ball home to rubber-stamp the three points.

Pacos and Pandurii off the mark

Rui Miguel's strike early in the second half ensured Pacos Ferreira avoided a surprise Europa League defeat in a 1-1 draw against Pandurii Targu-Jiu.
Last season's runners-up in the Romanian Liga I took a fifth-minute lead through Marko Momcilovic's close-range finish.
But Miguel spared the Portuguese side's blushes four minutes after half-time to ensure Pacos and Pandurii each got their first point in Group E after being defeated by Fiorentina and Dnipro respectively in their opening matches.
The visitors came flying out of the traps with Alexandru Ciucur's effort from just outside the area blocked by Filipe Anunciacao and from the resulting corner, they took a fifth-minute lead.
Nicandro Breeveld's inswinging set-piece from the right allowed Momcilovic to fire into the top corner from close range.
It was Pandurii's first goal in the group although they were nearly back on level terms almost immediately, with Rui Caetano guilty of missing the target from Manuel Jose's free-kick into the area.
Defender Gregory Arnolin then saw a header well saved by Pandurii goalkeeper Joao Mingote, while Deividas Matulevicius had to make a vital block from on-loan Manchester United striker Bebe's effort from close range.
At the other end, Arnolin made a vital interception to keep out a header from Eric Pereira, whose header just after half-time was well saved by Antonio Filipe.
It proved a crucial save as Miguel levelled in the 49th minute after slotting home from close range following Jean Seri's lay-off.
Bebe wasted an opportunity to put the hosts ahead after shooting straight at Joao Mingote a few minutes later although Pandurii were still proving an attacking threat with Tiago Valente making key blocks from Ciucur and goalscorer Momcilovic.
Jose fired wide from inside the area and Paolo Hurtado fired over from 20 yards but it was Pandurii who finished strongly although they could not fashion any chances to reflect their superiority and both sides settled for a point.

#INSERT type:image caption:Giuseppe Rossi celebrates after netting the final goal in Fiorentina's victory. END# Fiorentina made a winning start to their Europa League Group E campaign with a comfortable 3-0 defeat of Pacos Ferreira.
Gonzalo Rodriguez put the Italians on their way on the half-hour mark before substitute Ryder Matos extended Fiorentina's lead in the 67th minute.
Giuseppe Rossi then made it 3-0 with 14 minutes remaining.
Fiorentina, playing their first game without striker Mario Gomez and winger Juan Cuadrado, both out injured, were on the front foot from the off.
Marco Alonso's left-footed volley took a deflection off a Pacos defender and went just wide of the far post.
Fiorentina broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark when Rodriguez rose highest to head Rossi's corner and beat visiting goalkeeper Matias Degra.
The home side should have doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time after Degra fumbled Massimo Ambrosini's cross on the box but the Pacos defence was able to clear the threat.
The Portuguese outfit had the first chance of the game three minutes after the restart.
Fiorentina goalkeeper Murara Neto was forced into a full-length stretch to save Tony's bullet strike from outside the area.
Pacos wasted a good chance on the hour mark when Bebe fed Christian Irobiso in the box and his right-footed went wide.
The Italians, who had a 62nd minute goal disallowed for offside, doubled their lead soon after.
Matos, who had replaced Joaquin one minute earlier, got behind Borja Valero's pass and his six-yard shot into the lower right corner beat Degra.
Rossi capped off a wonderful evening for the hosts when he fired a left-footed strike from 12 yards to the far post where Degra could not reach.
