Iain Vigurs strike gives Inverness victory at Dumbarton

Iain Vigurs scored his second goal in as many games as Inverness beat Dumbarton 1-0 to move up to fifth in the Ladbrokes Championship table.The visitors were on top in a goalless first half, with Vigurs and Liam Polworth looking particularly dangerous going forward.Vigurs put Inverness ahead 11 minutes after the break when he unleashed a left-footed shot from just inside the area which flew into Scott Gallacher's net.Both teams created chances late on but Caley Thistle held on to secure all three points.

Jack Iredale's last-gasp goal seals Morton's win beat Dumbarton

Morton kept their promotion hopes alive with a last-gasp 3-2 Scottish Championship victory over Dumbarton at Cappielow Park.The visitors, who appear increasingly consigned to the relegation play-off, took a surprise 55th-minute lead when Danny Handling fired home from Grant Gallagher's pass.The lead lasted seven minutes before Gary Fraser latched on to Scott Tiffoney's pass before equalising from 12 yards.John Baird gave Morton a 69th-minute lead, smashing the ball into the top corner of the net following Tiffoney's corner.A Thomas O'Ware own goal three minutes from time looked to have salvaged a point for Dumbarton, but Jack Iredale slotted home the winner from six yards in the third minute of stoppage time.The result leaves Dumbarton eight points adrift of Falkirk with only four games to play, while Morton lie two points off a play-off berth.

Dundee 6-2 Dumbarton

Greg Stewart helped Dundee to a morale-boosting first win in the Betfred Cup with a hat-trick in the 6-2 victory over Dumbarton at Dens Park.Stewart had given his side an early lead and went on to ensure Paul Hartley's side got out of jail after their Championship opponents had raced into a shock first-half advantage through strikes from Frazer Wright and Gregor Buchanan.The Dark Blues turned on the style in the second half, though, with five goals as Stewart completed his treble while Kane Hemmings claimed a double and captain Darren O'Dea also got on the scoresheet.Dundee opened the scoring on 16 minutes when Stewart curled a free-kick from an acute angle over the Dumbarton defence and past visiting keeper Mark Brown.However, the Sons equalised against the run of play on 26 minutes. Gregor Buchanan's cross caused panic in the Dundee defence and, despite Robert Thomson failing to convert, defender Wright was on hand to scramble the ball over the line from point-blank range.Dumbarton then went ahead on 34 minutes. Ryan Stevenson's corner was met by Thomson whose shot cannoned back off the underside of the bar, and Buchanan stroked into the empty net.Dundee equalised three minutes after the break, though, as Stewart and Rory Loy combined prior to Hemmings beating Brown.O'Dea's 73rd-minute header put the hosts back in front and Stewart made it 4-2 a minute later, before completing his hat-trick with 10 minutes left.And Hemmings completed the rout with five minutes remaining with another calm finish from six yards from Kevin Holt's pass.ends

Relegated Alloa waved goodbye to the Ladbrokes Championship with a 1-1 draw at home to Dumbarton.Isaac Layne handed the hosts the lead in the seventh minute when he turned smartly in the box before tucking a shot into the bottom corner.Dumbarton pressed for a leveller with Tom Walsh forcing a save from Scott Gallacher and the goalkeeper making a better intervention to deny Steven Saunders.Gallacher was beaten six minutes into the second half when a kind bounce fell for Donald McCallum who stroked home the Sons' first away goal of 2016.Kevin Cawley hit the post for the visitors while Iain Flannigan and Robbie Crawford narrowly missed the target for Alloa, who drop down to League One on the back of a five-match unbeaten run.

Four-star Hibernian close gap to Falkirk with convincing Dumbarton win

Hibernian moved level on points with second-placed Falkirk in the Ladbrokes Championship after a brace from James Keatings helped beat Dumbarton 4-0 at Easter RoadThe Scottish Cup finalists, with Conrad Logan back in goal as one of four changes, went ahead after just six minutes when Keatings collected Fraser Fyvie's through ball and sent a left-foot shot into the top corner.Keatings made it 2-0 on 13 minutes after being set up at the back post by Niklas Gunnarsson. Logan saved well from Calum Waters as the visitors threatened later in the half but Hibs went into the break with their two-goal lead intact.After a brief melee following a foul by Jon Routledge on Hibs midfielder Liam Henderson, Alan Stubbs' men made sure of all three points on 75 minutes as Kevin Cawley deflected a shot from Keatings into his own net.On-loan Celtic forward Anthony Stokes stabbed in a fourth from a corner during stoppage time as Hibs boosted their goal difference to within three of the Bairns.

Dumbarton secured Scottish Championship survival after coming from behind to beat St Mirren 2-1 at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium.Forward Callum Gallagher fired Saints ahead in the 10th minute, drilling his effort into the corner from the edge of the area.Steve Saunders came close to an immediate leveller before the home side did equalise five minutes before half-time, with Keith Watson deflecting a cross into his own net.Paul Heffernan missed a great opportunity to put Dumbarton in front when he crashed a shot against the bar having been clean through.Lawrence Shankland hit the bar shortly afterwards for Saints before Garry Fleming nudged Dumbarton ahead in the 54th minute with a fine finish which was enough to keep them in the division.

Raith came from behind to claim a 3-2 victory at Dumbarton to further consolidate the last promotion play-off spot in the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship.Christian Nade gave the hosts a first-half advantage before Ryan Hardie equalised four minutes after the restart. Christian Nade at the double for Dumbarton

Christian Nade netted a brace as Dumbarton came from behind to beat Queen of the South 4-2 in a topsy-turvy clash.The hosts opened the scoring after four minutes when Nade tucked the ball beyond Robbie Thomson but Queens were level in the 28th minute when Iain Russell found the top corner from the middle of the box.The visitors took the lead two minutes before the break when Alex Harris slotted past Jamie Ewings.But Dumbarton flew out of the blocks in the second half, with Tom Walsh levelling things up in the 48th minute before Nade put his side ahead two minutes later.Garry Fleming made the points safe in the 86th minute when he scored from the penalty spot after Gregor Buchanan had been fouled in the box.

Dumbarton remain just two points clear of Livingston after they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Morton in the Scottish Championship.The points leaves the Sons without a win in three league games as they look to avoid relegation, but they could have been worse had Ross Forbes not hit the post late on.Forbes found space in a crowded area to get a shot away with 10 minutes remaining, but saw his shot cannon back off the post before Denny Johnstone fired the rebound wide.Gregor Buchanan went close moments later at the other end but Derek Gaston was alert to smother the chance.Jamie Ewings had been the busier of the two keepers before that, producing good saves to prevent Darren Barr and Denny Johnstone scoring as the match headed towards a goalless draw.
