      Partizan Belgrade 0-0 Asteras Tripoli

      Partizan Belgrade ended their Europa League campaign winless as they were held at home by Asteras Tripoli.The Serbian side dominated their final Group C encounter on Thursday for large periods but were held at bay by resilient Greek opponents who had already created club history by competing at this stage of the Europa League for the first time.Asteras were one of only four teams in the group stage who had started out in the second qualifying round but they lost only two of their six matches - home and away to Tottenham - and beat Partizan 2-0 when the two sides met in Greece on matchday two.The little-known Greeks had goalkeeper Kostas Theodoropoulos to thank for their goalless draw in Belgrade as Partizan finished bottom of the group with only two points.Partizan dominated the early stages and almost took an eighth-minute lead through Nikola Ninkovic but his 18-yard shot was well parried by Theodoropoulos before Sasa Markovic and Vojislav Stankovic also went close to breaking the deadlock.Vladimir Volkov also tested Theodoropoulos before Asteras managed their first on-target attempt on the half-hour mark, Giannis Gianniotas' 25-yard curler pushed away by Partizan goalkeeper Milan Lukac.Nikola Drincic forced another save from Theodoropoulos but there was more hope for Asteras close to the interval when Anastasios Bakasetas broke through but failed to control his shot from 12 yards.Partizan were within inches of taking the lead two minutes after the restart when Ninkovic struck a post after Athanasios Panteliadis' poor clearance fell to him and Theodoropoulos again denied the striker from 20 yards moments later.The home side's growing frustration was reflected by bookings in the space of 15 second-half minutes for Drincic, Branko Ilic and Volkov and Asteras almost won it in injury time when Lukac denied Pablo Mazza from six yards with his feet. ends

        Asteras Tripoli 2-2 Besiktas

        Besiktas booked their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League after holding on to claim a 2-2 draw with Asteras Tripoli after being reduced to 10 men.Former Chelsea striker Demba Ba opened the scoring for Besiktas in the 15th minute before Gokhan Tore added the second just after the hour mark from the penalty spot.Substitute Jeronimo Barrales then headed Asteras back into contention in the 72nd minute, with things going from bad to worse for the Turkish visitors when Atiba Hutchinson was sent off a minute later for his second bookable offence.Besiktas looked like they might hold on for the victory that would seal their progress in style, but Facundo Parra levelled the scores in the 83rd minute.It meant a nervy finish for Besiktas, but they held on to claim a point which was enough to put them through behind group leaders Tottenham, who defeated Partizan Belgrade 1-0 in the other Group C match.Slaven Bilic's side began the game in the best possible way with an early goal by Ba which set the tone for a competitive match.Tore sent the ball into the box with a deft cross which Ba volleyed past Asteras goalkeeper Tomas Kosicky.Ba put another effort wide shortly afterwards while Parra forced a save from Cenk Gonen from 20 yards at the other end.However, the action really hotted up after the break when Asteras defender Dorin Goian fouled Olcay Sahan to concede a penalty, which Tore fired high into the back of Kosicky's net.Barrales put Asteras back into the match with a headed goal from Khalifa Sankare's flicked free-kick and soon Besiktas were down to 10 men when Hutchinson picked up his second yellow card of the match.It meant Besiktas were left clinging to their narrow lead but they were unable to see out the 90 minutes with their slender advantage as Parra scored the equaliser in the 83rd minute.A huge slice of luck was involved as Parra diverted Tasos Bakasetas' hopeful effort into the net but that is where Asteras' fortune ended, as they were unable to find the winning goal meaning their tournament was over.ends

          Asteras Tripoli 2-0 Partizan Belgrade

          Asteras Tripoli put in an impressive home performance to easily overcome Partizan Belgrade 2-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night.The Greeks were playing their eighth European game of the season and their growing experience is clearly doing them good as they outclassed their Serbian opponents all over the pitch.Goals from Fernando Usero and Facundo Parra saw them ease to victory and take top spot in Group C.Partizan stopper Milan Lukac was the first of the two goalkeepers to make a save as he easily turned away Martin Rolle's early free-kick.Parra then flashed header wide before Branko Ilic went in the book for a challenge on Giannis Gianniotas as the match got off to a disjointed start.It came to life in the 22nd minute, though, as Usero fired the home side into the lead.The Spaniard accepted a pass from Pablo Mazza following some smart play and, despite Lukac saving his initial effort, the skipper tucked away the rebound to put his team in front.Mazza then had an effort of his own but Lukac made a smart save with his feet before the Serbians had their first real chance with Vojislav Stankovic missing the target from a corner.It was Asteras who were in the ascendency, though, and Rolle tested Lukac again with a long-range shot before the break.The Greeks began the second half as they finished the first with Gianniotas forcing Lukac into a save and Parra missing the target when he probably should have done better.But the Argentinian had his goal in the 52nd minute as he tapped in Braian Lluy's cross at the back post to double the lead.Gianniotas clearly wanted in on the act and had another shot saved before missing the target either side of Tomas Kosicky making his first major contribution with a save from Miroslav Vulicevic at the other end.Lluy had his tail up and narrowly fired over from the edge of the box before bringing two saves from Lukac as Asteras comfortably held on to maintain their unbeaten European home record.ends
