95' Credit also to Porto for coming to Old Trafford and having a go. Their manager had doubtless noted United's fragility at the back and lack of running power in midfield, and knew also that his team were perfectly equipped to take advantage. Scholes and Carrick just couldn't keep up, so that every time Porto attacked - and they did so in numbers - they looked dangerous. |
95' United can have no complaints. Although they were the better side in the second half, Porto could have been ahead at half time and caused United trouble all the way through the game. They also kept going when they fell behind, and although they were helped by some compliant defending, their confidence on the ball, passing and movement were all excellent. |
