Cleiton Silva scored the only goal of the match for East Bengal.
Chennaiyin went behind twice but found two equalisers to keep alive their faint hope of making the playoffs.
Plus.. Kerala Blasters do what they must, barely and FC Goa are balling while East Bengal are not.
Dimitrios Diamantakos struck two goals in as many minutes to secure three crucial points for the Blasters, who had lost their last two games.
The win lifted ATK Mohun Bagan from fifth to third, while Odisha FC dropped out of the playoff spots and are now level on points with Bengaluru FC.
Bengaluru FC grabbed their fourth consecutive win to climb up the table and dent Chennaiyin's playoff hopes.
