Saulius Mikoliunas goal sees Lithuania past Estonia

Saulius Mikoliunas scored the only goal of the game as Lithuania defeated Estonia 1-0 in Euro 2016 qualifying Group E on Thursday night.

Mikoliunas headed past goalkeeper Sergei Pareiko in the 76th minute from close range after linking up with Deividas Matulevicius.

Estonia finished the game with 10 men after Ken Kallaste was sent off in the 86th minute after picking up his second yellow card of the match.

The result puts Lithuania second behind England in the fledgling table on goal difference after their 5-0 defeat of San Marino.

The game was short on chances but the home side had the better of the action, with Estonia keeper Pareiko kept busy at intervals during the match.

However, he was unable to keep out the decisive effort of Mikoliunas midway through the second half when the substitute headed in from Matulevicius' ball from the left of the box.

Estonia were unable to salvage a draw, with Ats Purje missing two late chances, with their efforts further hampered following the dismissal of defender Kallaste four minutes from the end.
