McGlashan gives Gills victory

Jermaine McGlashan's late header gave Gillingham their first win in five games as Crawley's run of three successive victories was ended by a 2-1 defeat at the Checkatrade.com Stadium. The winger scored in the 81st minute to send the Red Devils into the bottom four with just seven games to go.Crawley's Danish goalkeeper Brian Jensen, starting his first game since early January, dived to his left to hold an angled shot by John Marquis as Gillingham threatened early on.Gills midfielder Bradley Dack got in behind the home defence on the half-hour mark but his cross was cut out by the alert Jensen.Crawley were down to 10 men with Marvin Elliott off the field receiving treatment when Dack drove Gillingham ahead five minutes before the interval, seizing onto a pass by Luke Norris to slot home his ninth goal of the season. The visitors created little in the first half but midfielder Anthony Wordsworth was narrowly off target with a dipping 30-yard free-kick in stoppage time.Jensen went down at his near post to keep out a goal-bound shot from Norris shortly after the break before skipper Izale McLeod then equalised for Crawley with his 17th league goal of the season, getting the better of John Egan before firing low past Glenn Morris.Jensen later denied Gillingham by tipping a Marquis shot over before Max Ehmer fired against the post for the visitors. And McGlashan then hit the Gills' winner lead nine minutes from time with a downward header at the far post following a cross by Dack.
