Jones heroics keep Dale on track

Rochdale moved into the Sky Bet League One play-off places after a 2-1 win against Yeovil at Spotland.Heavy ran threatened to spoil the game in the opening exchanges before James Hayter missed a great chance to hand Yeovil the lead in the 19th minute when he was fouled in the area by Dale goalkeeper Jamie Jones.Referee Eddie Ilderton awarded a spot kick, but Hayter was denied by Jones, who seconds later pulled off a similarly impressive stop to deny the Glovers forward again.Dale's Rhys Bennett broke the deadlock seven minutes into the second half, firing home at the second attempt after Yeovil goalkeeper Scott Loach had blocked his initial effort. And the home side doubled their advantage in the 53rd minute when Yeovil failed to clear Michael Rose's corner.Though Ian Henderson's header hit Stephen Arthurworrey, the ball trickled kindly into Jack O'Connell's path and he fired home from point-blank range.Hayter made it 2-1 in the 56th minute when the Dale defence left him unmarked, the striker making amends for his earlier penalty miss with a sharp finish. But Rochdale finished strongly and could have had a third whenHenderson lofted the ball over the crossbar from close range with the goal at his mercy.
