Shakers back to winning ways

Bury climbed back up to fourth in League Two after a 2-0 home win against Cambridge.Nicky Adams claimed a 13th-minute opener before Danny Rose doubled the Shakers' lead in the 28th minute. Cambridge improved after the break but could not avoid slipping to 14th place. The Shakers had started strongly with Cambridge goalkeeper Chris Dunn having to rush out to deny Ryan Lowe, with Rose chipping the rebound just wide.Dunn then saved a low 25-yard strike by Tom Soares but was beaten moments later as Soares teed up Adams to curl into the bottom corner from similar range.Cambridge responded with Luke Chadwick's shot being blocked by Pablo Mills. But Craig Jones then got down the Bury right to cross for Rose, who got above Richard Tait to head home at the far post.Adams and substitute Andrew Tutte combined just after the break to set up Lowe, whose firm shot was parried by Dunn.Ryan Donaldson and substitute Liam Hughes then had shots blocked as Cambridge put some pressure on the home defence.Mills also had to block a goal-bound volley from Harrison Dunk but Adams almost struck a superb third for Bury at the death, firing against the Cambridge crossbar.
