Shrews cruise past Stags
High-flying Shrewsbury had few problems sweeping aside 10-man Mansfield 2-0 to notch a sixth straight victory in League Two.Mansfield, without a win in eight games, were always up against it after losing midfielder Jamie McGuire to a first-half red card.Following a challenge on Liam Lawrence which earned both men a booking, McGuire flew into a tackle on James Collins to receive a 30th-minute red card.Shrewsbury had started well and Bobby Grant curled an early shot from the edge of the box just off target.Shrewsbury nearly made their extra man count immediately following McGuire's dismissal but Collins blazed wide from eight yeards after a fine run and cross from Jack Grimmer. It seemed only a matter of time before Shrewsbury's pressure told and it eventually did in the 59th minute. Grimmer slipped a pass to Grant and the midfielder, on loan from Blackpool, smashed an unstoppable shot from 15 yards to the roof of the net.Shrewsbury made sure of the points with a second 15 minutes from time. Jermaine Grandison headed down Grant's corner and Collins fired in on the turn for his eighth goal of the season.
