Mangan on song for Shrews

Substitute Andy Mangan came off the bench to grab a late winner as Shrewsbury, who remain unbeaten at home in League Two this season, beat Morecambe 1-0.Shrewsbury had more possession in the first half but Morecambe had the better chances. Paul Mullin outwitted Mark Ellis early on but bent a shot narrowly wide. Then shortly before half time Mullin was presented with the ball by a careless pass from Mickey Demetriou just outside the box, but his well-struck shot was brilliantly turned away by Shrewsbury goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler.Shrewsbury were patient in their approach and Bobby Grant, on loan from Blackpool, was unfortunate not to break the deadlock on the half-hour when, picked out by James Collins, he was denied by the foot of the far post from 12 yards.Collins almost found a way through just after the restart when he won the ball back with a sliding tackle and unleashed a powerful shot from 25 yards which was superbly saved by Scott Davies at full stretch. The excellent Davies then pulled off two more smart saves to frustrate Collins before the striker cracked a shot against the near post. But Shrewsbury kept driving forward and they were eventually rewarded four minutes from time.Collins forced another stunning save from Davies and Mangan was on hand to tap in the loose ball from inside the six-yard box for his eighth goal of the season to lift Micky Mellon's side up to second place in the table.
