Lowe ends drought to boost Shakers

Bury scored in each half to claim a 2-0 home win against Mansfield and move back to the brink of the League Two play-offs.Ryan Lowe put the hosts into a 40th-minute lead and Mansfield threatened an equaliser after the break. But Danny Mayor's 78th-minute strike made it back-to-back league wins for Bury for the first time since September. The Shakers had struggled to break down Mansfield's five-man defence early on until Lowe fired straight at Dimitar Evtimov. The veteran Bury striker sent another effort straight at the Stags' goalkeeper before Mayor's shot was blocked, with Andrew Tutrte hitting the loose ball just wide.Hallam Hope's 20-yard effort was then parried by Evtimov and Lowe was on hand to tap in the rebound for his first goal in 11 games.Mansfield replied with Simon Heslop blazing over just after the break while Junior Brown volleyed over from a long throw. But Bury then found Mayor deep down the left and the winger turned his man to cut inside and fire inside the far post.Mansfield almost pulled one back as Brown's cut-back was deflected goalwards but keeper Rob Lainton managed to turn it wide.
