Danny at the double for Bury
Bury climbed back into the play-off places after hanging on for a 2-1 home win against lowly Carlisle. An open first half saw Danny Nardiello convert a 16th-minute penalty, only for Steven Rigg to draw Carlisle level six minutes later.Nardiello put Bury back in front in the 62nd minute but had a penalty saved on 77 minutes, before the Shakers survived a frantic finish. The hosts had started strongest and Danny Mayor was tripped by right-back Matt Young, with Nardiello sidefooting the spot-kick low to Mark Gillespie's left. But Carlisle replied on the break as Courtney Meppen-Walter's 25-yard strike was parried by Nick Pope and Rigg converted the rebound.Anthony Griffith and Brad Potts went close for the Blues before a goalbound strike by Bury's Hallam Hope was blocked by left-back Danny Grainger.Shortly after the break, Nardiello turned over Craig Jones' low cross, but the Bury striker made no mistake after latching onto Andrew Tutte's through-ball, dinking the ball over Gillespie and in off the far post.Nardiello should have sealed victory - and completed a hat-trick - after Anthony Sweeney was deemed to have handled Jones' cross, but he went for power and fired straight at Gillespie.Substitute Danny Rose twice went close for Bury but the visitors might have claimed a point as sub David Amoo twice headed wide while Pope made a point-blank save to deny Rigg.
