Shakers sink Pools

Bury ground out a 1-0 home win against rock-bottom Hartlepool to climb back into the League Two play-off places.Plucky Pools looked set to claim a valuable point until their resistance was broken by Andrew Tutte in the 75th minute. They should have taken an early lead after Michael Woods caught Danny Mayor in possession but Marvin Morgan's shot was too close to home goalkeeper Nick Pope.Bury replied with Nathan Cameron's header forcing a low save from Scott Flinders, who then denied Mayor. Cameron also headed wide before Flinders saved from Danny Nardiello and Nicky Adams.Pools then penned Bury into their own half and Scott Harrison saw a tame header saved before testing Pope from long distance.Bury were back on top after the break, with Flinders saving Chris Hussey's inswinging free-kick before turning wide Tutte's 20-yard strike. But the Shakers were struggling to prise open the Hartlepool defence until Mayor went on a surging run through the middle then slid the ball across goal. Flinders got a hand to it, touching it behind Hallam Hope, but Tutte arrived at the far post to finish off.
