Mainz 0-0 TSG Hoffenheim
Mainz and Hoffenheim remained unbeaten after six games of the Bundesliga season after sharing a goalless draw at the Coface Arena on Friday night.Chances were few and far between with the league's top goalscorer Shinji Okazaki ruled out with an injury.Hoffenheim had arguably the most chances, but the best fell to the hosts just before the interval with Filip Djuricic wasting it.The teams then appeared to settle for the point in the second half with both teams moving up into a share of second spot overnight.Mainz were without their and the Bundesliga's top goalscorer Okazaki, who was ruled out only an hour before kick-off due to an injury he picked up in midweek.Sami Allagui took his place in the Mainz attack with Jonas Hofmann but most of the first-half action came at the other end, in front of Loris Karius' goal.Karius twice had to get down low to keep out shots from Anthony Modeste before doing even better to turn Roberto Firmino's angled effort wide. The hosts only managed to create one real moment of danger in the first half and they perhaps should have taken the lead. Djuricic saw Oliver Baumann right at the edge of his penalty area but failed to lift the ball enough to beat the former Freiburg custodian, who was able to reach out and push the ball away. One early shot from Hofmann in the second half, which Baumann turned over, was about as close as either side came to scoring in the second 45 minutes.Rather than risk losing their unbeaten records, the two sides seemed happier to take a point each and that is precisely what they got, with no complaints on either side.ends
