McManus treble sinks Berwick

Morton's Declan McManus scored a hat-trick in extra-time to secure a 5-2 win against League Two Berwick in the Petrofac Training Challenge Cup.The visitors took the lead after eight minutes through defender Scott Maxwell, who crashed a 20-yard effort in off the crossbar.Jamie McCluskey restored parity just five minutes later, poking in from Stefan McCluskey's initial shot.Forward Thomas O'Ware then nodded Morton in front on the stroke of half-time with a looping header which left goalkeeper William Bald stranded.Lee Currie ensured extra-time was needed after tucking in the rebound from his initial saved penalty.McManus made it 3-2 with a terrific strike which flew high into the top corner and it was four after 114 minutes when McManus rounded Bald. He completed a remarkable hat-trick two minutes later with a clever finish through the goalkeeper's legs.There was still time for Morton's McCluskey to be dismissed after receiving two yellow cards, but the game was already won.
