Stirling effort reaps reward
East Stirling gained their first points of the League Two campaign with a 2-1 win against Elgin at Ochilview Park. The home side opened the scoring midway through the first half when defender Chris Townsley converted a header from a corner. After wasting a succession of opportunities to increase their lead, David McKenna put East Stirling 2-0 up in comical fashion after 66 minutes, robbing Elgin keeper Michael Fraser of possession and walking the ball into an empty net. A last-minute header from Elgin trialist Marvin Andrews ensured a nervy finish, but the home side held on for all three points. The result will come as some relief for East Stirling after losing all three games in league and cup so far this season, conceding 15 goals in the process.
