Rare reward for Alloa

Bottom club Alloa clinched only their second point in seven matches by halting Raith's three-game winning run in a goalless draw.Alloa midfielder Mark Docherty and Raith counterpart Ross Callachan traded early shots in the first half, but there were no further efforts on goal until visiting midfielder Grant Anderson pulled a shot wide of target in the 29th minute.Home pair Stephen Simmons and Kevin Cawley went close as a hard-fought first period drew to a close before Raith striker Calum Eliot forced Alloa goalkeeper Craig McDowall to hold his firm shot early in the second half.Alloa's Daryll Meggatt then drove a shot wide and fellow defender Michael Doyle forced a fine save from Raith goalkeeper David McGurn with an angled effort from just inside the penalty area.Raith substitute Christian Nade was next to fire wide and at the other end Cawley pulled his effort the wrong side of the post in the 76th minute. Both sets of defences held firm in the closing stages with Alloa's Doyle and Simmons squandering chances to win it in stoppage time.
