Austria ease to victory away to Liechtenstein

Austria scored three second-half goals as they thrashed Liechtenstein 5-0 to remain top of Group G.

Martin Harnik and Marc Janko put Austria in firm control before the break, and although David Alaba missed a penalty before the break, the Bayern Munich man made amends in the second half before further goals from Zlatko Junuzovic and Marko Arnautovic.

The victory means Austria stay four points clear at the top of the table, with second-placed Sweden keeping the pressure on with a 2-0 win against Moldova.

Harnik opened the scoring at the Rheinpark Stadion after 14 minutes with a driven finish from the edge of the area and two minutes later, Janko slotted home Arnautovic's cross.

It could have been worse for Liechtenstein before half-time as goalkeeper Peter Jehle gave away a penalty with a mistimed challenge but Alaba sent the spot-kick wide of the post.

The floodgates opened in the second period, however, as Alaba made amends with a bending shot on the hour.

Janko then set up Junozovic to make it 4-0 in the 74th minute and there was time for a final flourish deep in stoppage time as Marcel Sabitzer teed up Arnautovic for number five.
