CARSON, Calif. -- Jobi McAnuff scored the only goal of the second half in the 48th minute and Jamaica tied Costa Rica 2-2 on Wednesday night in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

McAnuff used a nice individual effort that started near midfield to toe poke in the tying goal in the opening match of Group B.

Jamaica's Garath McCleary started the scoring in the 13th minute with a deflected shot off a long throw-in.

Costa Rica's Roy Miller tied it at 1-1 with a header off a clever set piece in the 33rd minute. David Ramirez flicked in a goal from a difficult angle about four minutes later as Jamaica's goal-line clearance attempt was too late.

Costa Rica is looking to build on its quarterfinal appearance in last summer's World Cup.

Jamaica lost all three of its Copa America matches last month and had players boycott Monday's training session due to pay issues.
