Fiorentina beat Chelsea in final ICC match after Gonzalo Rodriguez winner

Fiorentina beat Chelsea 1-0 in the final match of the International Champions Cup competition after a goal from Gonzalo Rodriguez.

With the start of the Premier League season this weekend, Chelsea fielded an XI filled mostly with substitute players.

John Terry was the only certain regular to feature from the opening whistle for Jose Mourinho, while Kurt Zouma and Oscar also started. Ruben Loftus-Cheek was handed the start in midfield, while Monaco loanee Radamel Falcao began the match up front.

Rodriguez's goal came in the 34th minute after Asmir Begovic was unable to hold on to his save from a Marcos Alonso shot and the Fiorentina No. 2 poked home from close range.

Minutes before, Matias Vecino smashed one off the Chelsea crossbar from 25 yards out.

The score was 1-0 after the first 45 minutes and Jose Mourinho brought on some of his first-team regulars during the second 45. Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas, among others were substituted in during the second half, but Chelsea were unable to break through with an equaliser.

Loic Remy and Cahill both came close in the match's final minutes, but Fiorentina resisted the late push to hold on for the win.

Fiorentina start their Serie A campaign at home vs. AC Milan on Aug. 23, while Chelsea begin their Premier League season Saturday vs. Swansea at Stamford Bridge.
