Scott Boden brace at Morecambe earns first win for Newport boss Warren Feeney
Two goals from Scott Boden gave Newport their first win under new boss Warren Feeney as they clinched a 2-1 victory at Morecambe.Boden struck in the first minute of the game and added a second 20 minutes from time to give his side their first ever win against the Shrimps.Boden's first came after just 56 seconds after Mark Byrne swung over a left-wing corner that was allowed to travel across the six-yard box and Boden was perfectly placed to poke the ball home from close range.Morecambe almost levelled two minutes later when they were denied by the woodwork. Kevin Ellison dragged a left-foot volley wide of the goal but Darren Jones diverted the ball against his own crossbar. The home side then had a great chance to level as Tom Barkhuizen was played in on goal but his effort was well saved by Mitchell Beeney. They forced an equaliser on the hour when Shaun Miller scored his 12th goal of the season with a 30-yard drive that flew past Beeney's right hand.Morecambe had the wind at their backs and went close with another long-range effort from Jamie Devitt that brushed the right-hand post.Newport then took the lead for a second time against the run of play when Alex Rodman crossed from the right and Boden escaped his markers to volley past Barry Roche from six yards out.
