Wigan move top of the table with convincing win
Wigan moved to the top of the Sky Bet League One table after coming from behind to claim a convincing 5-1 win at Shrewsbury.Latics, now unbeaten in 19 games, took control by scoring four times in the second half as the Shrews, who had been undefeated in their previous nine league games, ended the game with 10 men.Shrewsbury took the lead in the 28th minute when the in-form Sullay Kaikai made it six goals in five starts since returning to the club on loan from Crystal Palace last month.Wigan were unable to clear a Shaun Whalley corner and Kaikai turned home the loose ball from close range.Kaikai then fired off-target before Wigan pulled level in the 33rd minute when Conor McAleny, on loan from Everton, chested down a clearance 20 yards from goal and hammered an unstoppable volley into the roof of the net past goalkeeper Mark Halstead.Wigan moved ahead in the 58th minute as Yanic Wildschut drilled in the rebound after a McAleny shot came back off a post - the first of three goals in nine minutes for Latics.Jason Pearce headed in a Max Power corner to stretch the lead to 3-1 before Will Grigg converted a penalty after being brought down by Zak Whitbread, with the Shrewsbury defender sent off.Dom Smith sent a headed effort against a post at the other end, but Wigan had the final word in stoppage time when Power's cross from the right was turned in by Grigg for his 22nd goal of the season.
