Struggling Crewe hold League One leaders Burton

Sky Bet League One leaders Burton came from behind to earn a frustrating 1-1 draw at strugglers Crewe. The Railwaymen, who have drawn seven of their last 10 games, shocked Nigel Clough's side with a 14th-minute finish from Marcus Haber. But Lucas Akins hit back before the break and afterwards the Brewers struggled to breakdown the second-bottom side. There was a slice of fortune about Crewe's opener as Zoumana Bakayogo's driven cross deflected off Shane Cansdell-Sherriff then goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin and into the path of the onrushing Haber, who followed the ball in.McLaughlin was in action soon after, but this time the keeper was control as he dived across to keep out Brad Inman's rising drive.Burton responded and Robbie Weir went close to turning in Akins' deflected effort at the far post. And the leaders levelled 10 minutes before the break when Akins turned on a delivery from Mark Duffy and fired under keeper Ben Garratt.Crewe defended stoically, although Burton lacked a clinical edge. Garratt held onto Duffy's fierce drive. But at the other end, lively Crewe substitute Charlie Kirk went close when he unleashed a volley past the far post.Crewe defender Jon Guthrie was stretchered off in the closing minutes with concussion after taking the force of an attempted overhead kick from Phil Edwards.
