Stirling Albion hold on for victory over local rivals East Stirling
Stirling Albion recorded their first win of the new Scottish League Two season after downing local rivals East Stirling 3-2 with the aid of two early goals at Ochilview Park.Albion had only picked up one point from their opening four games but they looked like the form team as they scored twice in the opening seven minutes.Alex Cunningham struck first after four minutes with a far-post finish from Sean Dickson's free-kick, and Steven Doris doubled the lead soon after, capitalising on an under-hit back-pass to lift the ball over home keeper Richard Barnard.East Stirling, looking to make it three wins from three at home, pulled a goal back in the 14th minute when Nathan Shepherd netted after Stirling goalkeeper Chris Smith had collided with team-mate Lee Hamilton. However, Albion restored their two-goal lead 15 minutes from time when Ross McMillan's header went in off the woodwork, and although substitute Ally Roy set up a grandstand finish with an 89th-minute free-kick to make it 3-2, the visitors held on for their maiden victory.
