Schalke top Hannover, end five-match winless run in Bundesliga

With their win on Friday, Johannes Geis and Schalke moved to fourth in the Bundesliga.

Schalke moved up to fourth in the Bundesliga on Friday thanks to a 3-1 win over Hannover, which ended a five-game wait for a win.

Johannes Geis opened his account for the Royal Blues from the penalty spot five minutes into the second half, with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar adding a second.

Kenan Karaman hit the post before Allan Saint-Maximin scored his first Bundesliga goal with a shot into the top right-hand corner which shook Schalke.

Hannover's hopes of recovering were dashed within a minute, though, as Franco Di Santo's opportunistic header sealed all three points for the hosts, who moved to fourth ahead of the remaining weekend matches.
