VfL Wolfsburg 4-2 TSG Hoffenheim
Max Kruse scored his first Bundesliga hat-trick as Wolfsburg got back to winning ways by beating Hoffenheim 4-2 on Saturday.Kruse and Bas Dost gave the Wolves a flying start, only for Jeremy Toljan and Jonathan Schmid to get the visitors back on level terms. But Germany international Kruse then took matters into his own hands with two more goals to earn the hosts all three points and a much-needed fillip.Given their recent slide down the table, Wolfsburg would have been delighted with the start they made at the VW-Arena.They were two goals to the good after only seven minutes with Kruse opening the scoring after just 43 seconds from Julian Draxler's pass.Draxler set up the second for Dost to head past Oliver Baumann, extending his record of having scored in all of Wolfsburg's home matches this season.Draxler could have got his own name on the scoresheet after a quarter of an hour, but his sweet volley was turned behind well by Baumann as the one-way traffic continued to keep the Hoffenheim custodian on his toes.Toljan brought Hoffenheim back into the game just shy of the half-hour mark, latching onto Eugen Polanski's through-ball to thread his shot between Diego Benaglio and his near post and give the visitors hope.Schmid then completed the comeback early in the second half, taking a second bite of the cherry after his first shot was parried by Benaglio.Having seen their lead cancelled out, Wolfsburg pulled up their socks and went in front again within 10 minutes, with Kruse placing his shot wide of Baumann and into the bottom-left corner.Kruse completed his hat-trick and sealed victory eight minutes from time, turning in Andre Schurrle's cross on the volley from close range.ends
