Cowdenbeath v Raith
2015/16 Scottish League Challenge Cup, Round 1
Vaughan strike sinks Cowdenbeath
Lewis Vaughan's first-half strike was enough to earn Raith a 1-0 victory at Cowdenbeath in the Petrofac Training Cup.Both sides wasted early openings, with Cowdenbeath midfielder Chris Kane heading over the crossbar from six yards and Raith's Ryan McCord firing high and wide from inside the area.Raith grabbed the only goal in the 23rd minute when Mark Stewart's cross was slammed home by Vaughan from close in.Stewart spurned another chance for the visitors before the break while Jason Thomson fired wide of the left-hand upright early in the second half.Craig Wighton and Rory McKeown scuffed shots wide for Rovers and a header from Cowdenbeath's John Armstrong failed to trouble the keeper as time ticked away.
