Thomas Muller brace guides Bayern past Wolfsburg in German cup

Thomas Muller scored twice and Bayern Munich cruised to a 3-1 victory at Wolfsburg in the DFB Pokal on Tuesday night.

Douglas Costa opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a rocket of a shot from distance. Muller then scored two goals from David Alaba crosses.

The first came on 20 minutes when he kept a low pass down to score at the far post.

And Muller made it 3-0 when he met a longer Alaba cross full on the volley to beat Diego Benaglio at his near post.

Andre Schurrle found a consolation goal in stoppage time for Wolfsburg, whose win on penalties in the German Super Cup on Aug. 1 was the only game Bayern failed to win this season until last week's Champions League defeat at Arsenal.
