Sydney cruise to win over Brisbane Roar; set new A-League record

Sydney FC piled more misery on battling Brisbane Roar with a 3-0 A-League victory at Suncorp Stadium.

The reigning champions extended their lead atop the ladder to 11 points with the win, courtesy of goals from Bobo and Adrian Miezejewski and a late tap-in from substitute David Carney.

The Roar were heavily depleted -- as they have been for much of the season -- but never looked in the hunt against the Sky Blues, who produced yet another mesmerising performance.

In doing so, Graham Arnold's men broke their own record from last year for the best start any team has made to an A-League season after 15 rounds.

Brisbane, meanwhile, slumped to their sixth loss at Suncorp this season and fourth in a row in Queensland in front of a crowd of just 7,826.

Bobo opened the scoring in the 18th minute, with the Brazilian scoring from a Milos Ninkovic cross to notch his 15th goal of the season.

Five minutes after halftime, Miezejewski doubled their advantage.

The winger was afforded far too much space by the Brisbane defence and made them pay, stroking home a left-footed shot from outside the box that curled around goalkeeper Jamie Young and nestled into the bottom corner.

Miezerjewski thought he had another goal 10 minutes later but had it chalked off by the video assistant referee, who spotted Alex Brosque straying marginally offside in the lead-up.

It mattered little in the end, with Carney completing the rout in the 86th minute by putting away a loose ball after Young smothered an Alex Brosque attempt.

Brisbane's best attacks were continually repelled by an on-song Sydney rearguard, led by veteran Alex Wilkinson. The Roar suffered a last-minute blow with injury-prone forward Corey Gamiero pulled from their line-up with a groin complaint.

It meant teenager Daniel Leck was thrown in for a hasty starting debut against a full-strength Sydney, while midfielder Thomas Kristensen also played despite being subbed off after 31 minutes of Friday night's 2-0 defeat to Western Sydney with what appeared to be a hamstring strain.

However, Brisbane's star French recruit Eric Bautheac made his return from a hamstring injury after a four-match absence off the bench.
