Otis Khan penalty enough as Yeovil see off Southend to progress in FA Cup

Otis Khan's first-half penalty proved enough as Yeovil beat Southend 1-0 in the first round of the FA Cup at Huish Park.Having had an appeal waved away earlier on, the League Two side were successful as the half-hour mark approached after Sam Surridge was brought down after a trip from Ryan Leonard. Khan stepped up to convert emphatically in the 29th minute. It could have been 2-0 after 54 minutes but for an impressive reaction save from Mark Oxley to claw a Bevis Mugabi header out from under the crossbar.League One Southend chased the equaliser and substitute Stephen McLaughlin came close as twice his shots beat goalkeeper Artur Krysiak and twice the ball was cleared off the line by Tom James. The visitors thought they had made it 1-1 late on as a defensive header from Rhys Browne looped towards his own goal and the Shrimpers bundled it in, only for the referee to give a foul on Krysiak as the Glovers held on for a narrow victory.
