In the 50th minute, Leon gave the ball away in its own half, and a sliding attempt by defender Andres Mosquera to clear the ball went 20 yards in the wrong direction, over goalie Rodolfo Cota's head and into the net.
The second leg will be played April 14 in Kissimmee, Fla.
With the result, Toronto joins the Portland Timbers in heading "home" following a road draw. The Portland Timbers played to a 2-2 draw against Marathon on Tuesday in Honduras.
