Chicago Red Stars edge Seattle Reign FC 2-1

Julia Bianchi and Maximiliane Rall each netted goals as the Chicago Red Stars topped the Seattle Reign FC 2-1 on Saturday at SeatGeek Stadium.

Bianchi opened the scoring for Chicago in the first half with a right-footed shot from the center of the box that found its way into the top left corner of the net.

Rall sealed Chicago's victory with a goal in the 68th minute. Assisted by Taylor Malham's cross, Rall managed to slot the ball past goalkeeper Claudia Dickey from close range.

Rall's winner came five minutes after Ji So-Yun scored an equalizer with a stunning long-range effort that beat Red Stars keeper Alyssa Naeher.

Despite this momentary comeback, the Reign couldn't capitalize further due to strong defensive work by Chicago and failed opportunities, including a missed shot from Jordyn Huitema in the 72nd minute, shortly after an attempt by Huitema was blocked.
