San Diego finds a late winner in stoppage time

Alex Morgan gets a late assist on Emily van Egmond's goal in stoppage time to lift San Diego past Seattle.


Emily van Egmond's scored the decisive goal late in stoppage time as the San Diego Wave outlasted the Seattle Reign 1-0 on Friday at Snapdragon Stadium.

Van Egmond's right-footed shot from the center of the box found its way to the bottom right corner eight minutes into the second-half stoppage time, thanks to an assist from Alex Morgan.

Moments earlier, Morgan set up a shot by Savannah McCaskill from the center of the box that was blocked by Seattle's Claudia Dickey.

Morgan also missed on a header from the center of the box and had a shot blocked earlier in the second half.

San Diego goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan saved a header from Bethany Balcer from the center of the box in the 30th minute and blocked a shot from Ji So-Yun eight minutes later.
