Tziarra King pulls a goal back for the Seattle Reign from long distance against the Chicago Red Stars.


Ally Schlegel and Mallory Swanson scored for the Chicago Red Stars as they defeated Seattle Reign FC 2-1 on Sunday at Lumen Field.

Schlegel opened the scoring just four minutes into play, assisted by Swanson following a fast break. Swanson doubled the Red Stars' lead shortly before halftime, and Chicago (3-1-1) held on to win the match.

Tziarra King scored the lone goal for Seattle (1-0-4) late in the second half.

"We knew it would be tough coming here against such strong opposition," Swanson said postmatch, "but our defense held firm when needed most."
