The Kansas City Current, led by Lo'eau LaBonta's two goals, defeated the Portland Thorns 4-1 at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon, on Sunday. 

LaBonta opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a close-range header assisted by Temwa Chawinga. Eight minutes later, Stine Ballisager doubled the Current's lead with a right-footed shot from the center of the box following a corner kick from Elizabeth Ball. LaBonta added her second goal just two minutes after that with a stunning strike from outside the box.

Kansas City continued its dominance in the second half as Chawinga scored in the 47th minute off another assist from Ball.

Sophia Smith provided some consolation for Portland with a long-range effort in the 73rd minute assisted by Sam Coffey. Despite this, it was too little, too late for the Thorns to mount a comeback.
