The Kansas City Current, buoyed by the efforts of Temwa Chawinga, beat the Utah Royals 1-0 at CPKC Stadium on Saturday.

Chawinga scored in the 47th minute to lead the Current (11-5-3) to a narrow victory over the Royals (4-3-12). The goal came from a right-footed shot from the center of the box into the bottom left corner, assisted by Lo'eau LaBonta following a fast break.

LaBonta was instrumental throughout, not only providing an assist but also contributing with two shots. Almuth Schult made six crucial saves for Kansas City, ensuring the Current kept a clean sheet. 

For Utah, goalkeeper Mandy Haught made four saves. 

Despite multiple shots from both sides in an evenly contested match, it was Chawinga's early second-half strike that proved decisive. After she scored, the game saw a total of eight substitutions aimed at changing dynamics; however, neither team could alter its fortunes post-Chawinga's goal.
