Angel City FC and Portland Thorns FC played to a thrilling 2-2 draw at BMO Stadium on Saturday night. Forward Alyssa Thompson opened the scoring for Angel City with a right-footed shot from the left side of the box in the 10th minute, assisted by midfielder Meggie Dougherty Howard following a fast break.

Portland equalized early in the second half when forward Morgan Weaver found the bottom right corner with a right-footed shot from the center of the box, assisted by midfielder Marie Müller. The Thorns took the lead just minutes later as midfielder Olivia Moultrie scored from close range after receiving a cross from defender Kelli Hubly.

Forward Claire Emslie levelled Angel City, netting from very close range following a corner kick in the 76th minute. Despite several attempts by both teams to find a winner, neither could break through again before full time.

Midfielder Jessie Fleming received a yellow card for Portland for her foul play during an intense second half that saw multiple substitutions aimed at finding an edge. Reilyn Turner replaced Weaver for Portland while Kennedy Fuller came on for Dougherty Howard among other changes.

Both goalkeepers were kept busy throughout; DiDi Haracic made five saves for Angel City while Mackenzie Arnold had two crucial stops for Portland. Center back Becky Sauerbrunn also stood out defensively with key interventions late in the game.

The result leaves Angel City's record at 6-3-11 (21 points), while Portland moves to 8-3-9 (27 points).
