The Kansas City Current and NJ/NY Gotham FC played to a 1-1 draw at CPKC Stadium on Saturday. An own goal by Alana Cook gave Gotham an early lead, but Temwa Chawinga's second-half strike tied it.

Gotham (13-5-4) took the lead in the 23rd minute when Cook inadvertently deflected a corner into her own net. The score remained unchanged until halftime.

The Current (12-7-3) equalized in the 52nd minute through Chawinga, who finished off a fast break with a right-footed shot assisted by Debinha.  

The Current had 14 shots, Gotham 12. 

Goalkeeper Almuth Schult made six saves for Kansas City, Ann-Katrin Berger had three stops for Gotham.

Gotham hosts Bay City and the Current visit Racing Louisville on Oct. 5.
