The Kansas City Current, buoyed by Michelle Cooper and record-setting Temwa Chawinga, beat the San Diego Wave FC 4-1 at CPKC Stadium on Saturday. Cooper scored in the 22nd minute, followed by an own goal from San Diego goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan in the 31st minute.

Chawinga added another goal in the second half, finding the net in the 54th minute. She became the NWSL's first 20-goal scorer and is the first player to score against every other team in a season.  Debinha sealed it with a fourth goal in the 80th minute after coming off as a substitute. Nichelle Prince provided an assist.

San Diego managed to get on board late with Delphine Cascarino scoring at minute 88.

Goalkeeper Almuth Schult made one save facing just two shots overall thanks largely to solid defensive work led by Kayla Sharples and Alana Cook, both of whom played the full 90 minutes.

For San Diego (5-7-12), they extended their winless streak to 12 games since last winning in June when they defeated the Houston Dash.
