Arsenal began their preseason with a shootout win over Bournemouth on Wednesday night in Carson, California, after the match finished in a 1-1 draw.

Fabio Vieira put Arsenal ahead in the 18th minute at Dignity Health Sports Park, the home of MLS side LA Galaxy, scoring from a Reiss Nelson assist.

Mikel Arteta's side clung to the narrow lead against Bournemouth for much of the second half, but conceded an equaliser when Antoine Semenyo's shot from just inside the area took a wicked deflection and looped over the head of goalkeeper Karl Hein.

With the game tied after 90 minutes, the two teams took part in a shootout with Arsenal edging their fellow Premier League side on the sixth kick from the spot.

Arsenal continue their tour of the U.S. with a friendly against Manchester United on Saturday in Los Angeles before taking on Liverpool in Philadelphia on July 31.
