Borussia Dortmund 1-0 FC Ingolstadt 04

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's 30th Borussia Dortmund goal of the season ensured his below-pair side defeated Ingolstadt 1-0 at Signal Iduna Park. Dortmund's unbeaten run at home this season was maintained on Friday night as Aubameyang applied a first-time finish to Marcel Schmelzer's cross, although they can consider themselves fortunate they were able to claim all three points against their struggling opponents. Dario Lezcano, Sonny Kittel and Mathew Leckie all squandered good chances for the side second bottom in the Bundesliga, and that will have provided encouragement for the free-scoring Monaco side Dortmund have been drawn against in the Champions League quarter-finals. Dortmund had scored 13 times in their previous three home fixtures and went ahead in the 14th minute courtesy of Aubameyang's 30th of the campaign, and his 23rd in the Bundesliga. Shinji Kagawa threaded a pass to Schmelzer down the left and his first-time cross was met by Aubameyang, who fired his finish into the ground and past goalkeeper Martin Hansen. Yet their struggling visitors were far from deflated and began to take charge. Leckie had a header from a corner saved by Roman Burki and the goalkeeper then spread himself to deny Kittel as haphazard Dortmund defending kept gifting Ingolstadt chances. Raphael Guerreiro blazed over a decent opportunity to make it 2-0, but his miss was not as bad as the one Leckie was guilty of as he fired over the bar after a mix-up between Matthias Ginter and Sokratis Papastathopoulos. The Greek poked Dortmund's only good second-half chance wide while Ingolstadt continued to waste openings at the other end. Lezcano was one-on-one with Burki and decided to turn back, allowing the goalkeeper to clatter through him and collect the ball, avoiding giving away a penalty. Marvin Matip, brother of Liverpool's Joel, curled wide having burst into the box from centre-back and Leckie smashed another try over with the final kick of the game as an Ingolstadt side that have scored as many league goals as Aubameyang left with nothing to show for their endeavours. ends
