Daltons scores 30; Wyoming beats Chattanooga 74-65

LARAMIE, Wyo. -- Hayden Dalton scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Wyoming to a 74-65 victory over Chattanooga in a season opener on Friday night.

Dalton was 9 of 17 from the field and matched a career-best with five 3-pointers. He led the Cowboys with 12 double-doubles last season.

Nat Dixon had 14 points for Chattanooga. James Lewis Jr. added 12 points and Rodney Chatman chipped in 11.

Wyoming built a 40-29 halftime lead and held a double-digit edge early in the second half. Dixon made a 3-pointer and Makinde London scored on a dunk to pull the Mocs to 55-48 with seven minutes to play. But a 12-8 surge stretched Wyoming's lead to 67-56 with 1:40 remaining.

Cody Kelley made a pair of free throws for Wyoming and Nyaires Redding shot 5 of 6 from the line to seal it.
