TOLEDO, Ohio -- Jaelan Sanford scored 22 points, including a basket with 13 seconds left, and Toledo defeated Akron 67-65 on Friday night.

Sanford's leaning, one-handed jumper from the center of the paint gave Toledo a 66-62 lead. After a timeout, Akron turned the ball over on the inbounds. Marreon Jackson made a free throw for Toledo before Jimond Ivey made a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Tre'Shaun Fletcher scored 14 points with 10 rebounds for the Rockets (9-6, 1-1 Mid-American), who have won four of their last five.

A dunk and free throw by Fletcher snapped the final tie with four minutes left. The Rockets led by 14 early in the second half before the Zips took their only lead of the half on Duvivier's basket with five minutes remaining.
