Bethune-Cookman cruises to 121-92 win over Savannah State
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Armani Collins sank seven 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 27 points Saturday, Isaiah Bailey got his first triple-double and Bethune-Cookman defeated Savannah State 121-92 in a showdown of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference leaders.
Both teams entered the game tied for first with North Carolina A&T but Bethune-Cookman dominated, getting a jumper from Houston Smith early in the opening half to extend the advantage to 21-11 and spark a 14-2 run that gave the Wildcats a double-digit advantage the rest of the way.
Bailey slammed in a dunk with just over eight minutes left to play to give B-CU (17-12, 11-3) its largest lead of the game, 104-62, and finished with 19 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. The Wildcats shot 56 percent (45 of 80), getting a single-game program record 35 assists, and controlled the glass 59-42.
Shawntrez Davis had 19 points and 11 rebounds, Brandon Tabb got 20 points, Soufiyane Diakite hauled in 13 rebounds and Jeffrey Altidort sank all five of his shots, including four 3-pointers, to add 15 points for Bethune-Cookman, which hosts NC A&T on Monday.
Savannah State (13-16, 10-4) had four players in double figures, including Ty'lik Evans with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
