Reuter has 24 points, George Mason takes 78-63 win over NCCU

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Jarred Reuter scored 24 points to lead George Mason to its second straight win, a 78-63 victory over North Carolina Central in a campus game of the Emerald Coast Classic Tournament on Tuesday night.

George Mason (2-3) opened the season with three consecutive losses before topping Southern 69-65 on Saturday.

North Carolina Central (1-4) took a 32-29 halftime lead as the Eagles shot 63 percent from the floor in the first half. They were unable to maintain that in the second and the Patriots took the lead for good when Jaire Grayer nailed a 3-point jumper at the 15:58 mark of the second half to go up 41-38. It was part of a 17-0 run to start the second period.

Justin Kier had 12 points, Ian Boyd added 11, and Grayer finished with nine points and five assists for George Mason, which shot 51 percent (26-51) from the floor was 19 of 26 from the free-throw line.

NCCU (1-4) also shot 51 percent (23-45) while making 14 of 22 free throws. Randy Miller Jr. had 19 points and Rashann London added 12 to lead the Eagles.
