Portland State routs Division III Willamette 125-61
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Jamie Orme had 19 points and 13 rebounds and Portland State routed Division III Willamette 125-61 on Saturday night.
Holland Woods and Michael Nuga scored 22 points apiece to lead Portland State (2-1). Juwan Williams added 13 points and Sal Nuhu had 12. Robert McCoy had his first career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. The Vikings shot 46 of 84 (55 percent) from the field, made 13 3-pointers and outrebounded Willamette 52-27.
Portland State had four 100-plus point games last season, including a 125-50 win against Portland Bible.
Justus Eaglesmith scored 17 points and Jordan Jenkins had 15 to lead Willamette.
Orme scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Vikings jumped out to a 70-26 halftime lead. Nuga added 13 points and Woods had 11 and five of his seven steals in the opening period. The Vikings made 23 of 43 shots (57 percent) and 8 of 16 from long range in the first half.
