Hawkins scores 26, St. Francis (BKN) beats Lafayette 83-73
EASTON, Pa. -- Chauncey Hawkins scored a career-high 26 points, Jalen Jordan added 22 points with six 3-pointers and St. Francis (Brooklyn) pulled away early to beat Lafayette 83-73 on Sunday.
Rosel Hurley scored 10 points and Deniz Celen grabbed 10 rebounds for the Terriers (2-2), who shot 44.1 percent and forced 20 turnovers.
Lafayette went cold with 3:06 left in the first half while the Terriers hit eight straight for a 23-16 lead on Hawkins' jumper. St. Francis closed the half on a 12-2 run for a 40-26 lead behind Jordan's 13 points and Hawkins' 12.
Keon Williams' layup capped an 8-0 run for a 48-26 lead and the Leopards got no closer than nine the rest of the way.
Alex Petrie scored 21 points with eight rebounds and Justin Jaworski added 16 points for Lafayette (1-3).
