Mayo's buzzer-beating 3-pointer gives Eastern Kentucky win

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Nick Mayo hit a contested 3-pointer as time ran out to complete a comeback from a 23-point deficit and Eastern Kentucky edged High Point 70-69 on Saturday.

High Point's Brandonn Kamga made a free throw with nine seconds left but missed a second with the ball going out of bounds. After a lengthy review, the ball was given to EKU (4-4) and Mayo made his winning shot as he fell backward under heavy pressure. Until Mayo's winning shot, the Pirates had not led in the second half, having trailed 42-19 in the first half.

Mayo, who moved into No. 2 on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,785 points, finished with 30 points and 10 rebounds with his winning shot his only make in six tries from the arc. Jomaru Brown added 10 points.

Kamga finished with a career-high 27 points and Jahaad Proctor added 24 for the Panthers (4-4).
