Wofford beats East Tennessee State 79-62 in SoCon opener

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Fletcher Magee scored a season-high 24 points to lead Wofford to a 79-62 victory over East Tennessee State on Saturday night in a Southern Conference opener for both teams.

Wofford (6-2, 1-0) has won four straight since losing at Oklahoma 75-64 on Nov. 18.

Magee was 7 of 16 from the floor and made five 3-pointers. Cameron Jackson added 12 points and Matt Pegram had 10 for the Terriers.

Isaiah Tisdale scored 18 points, Patrick Good had 17 points and Bo Hodges 15 for East Tennessee State (6-3, 0-1), which had its five-game win streak snapped.

Tray Boyd's 3-pointer and Mladen Armus' two free throws pulled ETSU to 54-53 with seven minutes left. An 11-4 surged, capped by Nathan Hoover's 3-pointer in front of the Terriers' bench, stretched Wofford's lead to 66-57 with 3:21 remaining.

Magee's deep 3 from the top of the arc made it 69-58 with 1:34 left.
